April Lockhart is a born July 4th in 1995. When she was in the 7th grade she began to take piano and guitar lessons. That ignited her enthusiasm for songwriting. April Lockhart wrote her first single, Different at the age twelve years old. The year she turned 14 was when she spent a lot of time in creating song concepts and practicing the music she was playing. Then, in the following months, April began traveling with her father and write either in NY or LA. April started to include other subjects in the book, Take My Hand, for those of her peers who struggled with disabilities, peer pressure or even suicide. Lockhart has become a sought-after lifestyle influencer as well as having partnerships with clean beauty brands Ilia she has gained an impressive fan base. She was born with no left hand, and it makes her unique. However, this isn't the only thing about her. Lockhart's profile on Twitter doesn't shy away from the fact that she is disabled and does not make a point of it. What is the message? We are all more than just our physical self. Our identities are multifaceted and include a myriad of elements. Lockhart said via video that she didn't want to be defined solely by her physical disability. She does not want to become a disability advocate who only talks about disability. There are a lot of aspects of Lockhart. My daily life isn't directly affected by disability. I lead a normal daily life, and come up with my own solutions to problems. It's a big aspect of my existence, so it is important that we talk about it. Lockhart has been a great source of inspiration for her female friends regarding self-acceptance. Lockhart admits to having been through a series of phases regarding her appearance, feeling uneasy in some instances to wear clothing that displayed the arms of her. She now wears any outfit she wishes and shares pictures on her Facebook page with pride. One of the keys to self-love for her is that it's not a goal.
