The baby was born on 29 March 1985 at Roswell located in the state of New Mexico. Gerina Michel Mendoza is her birth name. Gerina Stevenson was born to Mexican parentage Rita Stevenson and Alan Stevenson. Her parents are Mexican and American. From a young age the desire for her to be active in sports was strong. Gerina first began playing golf at the age of 15. Gerina graduated from Goddard High School. At the age of 16, she was a winner in New Mexico's state golf championship. As a volleyball player, she also competed in state competitions. 2003was the year she started studying in the University of Texas. In her senior year she took home the top prize in every competition she entered. Through her college career, she won the Conference USA Individual Champion Player of the Year and UTEP Female Athlete of the year.
